Since 2021 Himdent Foundation has made significant strides in addressing the dental health challenges faced by people living in the remote regions of Uttarakhand.
In 2022 Himdent Foundation partnered with Uttarakhand State Education Department and Smiling School Program was born.
Under this program till now 70 government schools and close to 250 villages have been covered with focus being on raising awareness about preventive dental care and providing essential treatment to school children.

Our findings under Smiling School Program revealed that nearly 90% of the children had varying degrees of tooth decay, underscoring the need for early intervention.
By delivering on-the-spot treatments and emphasising preventive care, the program has creating lasting change, empowering students to prioritise their dental health in a region where healthcare access remains limited.
- 4060 students , teachers , villagers were examined, many of whom had never received dental care before.
- 3625 preventive treatments were provided, including permanent restorations, pit and fissure sealants, and teeth scaling.
- 550 plus hours of comprehensive oral health counselling sessions were held using audio-visual tools, helping children understand the importance of daily oral hygiene and preventing dental decay.
